11/04/2008: ""sale" bargains?"

sainsburys and asda (maybe others) advertising a sale price of 15 can boxes of lagers - 3 for £20!
bargain? nope! - a few weeks back they were doing 3 boxes of cans for £20... but each box then contained 18 cans.
which means when you buy 3 boxes now - you get 9 cans LESS. how is that a bargain?

next time you are in a supermarket - think about the "price war on milk"
then wonder over to the cheese aisle and see how much the price of a block of cheese has increased!
my local supermarket dropped 3p off a pint of milk, in their well advertised price war on milk, but added almost a £1 to the price of their cheese!
(to be fair, they have reduced their increase on cheese, to just 70p more than it was at the start of their price war on milk) a bargain or not?

"5p off a litre of a fuel if you spend £50 or more at our store!"
hardly a bargain, when you think last time the price of a barrel of oil was as low as it is now, the price of a litre of fuel was 12p lower than they charge now.

supermarkets are not even bothering to hide their rip offs now, they are blatant!
