09/17/2010: "Labour leadership election reveals some home truths!"

Finally, at long last, right before the labour party elect their new party leader and leader of the opposition in parliament, we, the public finally get to see and hear some startling facts coming out of labour MPs at the "top" of their party.

Andy Burnham said Labour should be "honest" and admit there would have been "significant" cuts if it had stayed in government.
not the full story though is it andy!
not a mention, both now and at the trade union conference, from anyone connected with labour, about the £830 MILLION pounds worth of cuts in the higher education budget, just weeks before we voted in the general election!

Ed Balls said cuts would not create jobs and Labour should not "do the job" of the coalition for them.
ed balls fighting for the leadership reveals exactly what blair/brown governments gave the public whilst in office - cover ups and denials!
ed balls would rather tell lies to the public than face them with facts and use his well constructed arguments to support his view!

- we now know that ed ball's future schools building programme was completely unfunded
- we also know that ed balls was told to factor in billions of pounds worth of cuts in his education budget, but ignored the order, instead prefering to do something so foolish, that ive never come across any other minister from any other government, do it before - allocate the funding for an education budget from the uncosted savings of other departments, before those government departments had even made these so called savings!

we now know that whilst attacking every single cut that the new government have been forced to make to try and balance the country's books, ed balls will continue to deny both responsibility for leaving them in such a state and deny that any cuts would have been brought in under his old government. farsical!

On the critical question of how best to support growth while reducing the deficit, Mr Burnham said Labour needed to be seen to be credible if it wanted to be listened to and "not oppose every cut".
- sadly, this is once again complete hotair!
on the 17th of june 2010, andy burnham started a series of points of view that "criticises every cut!"

he "urged" the new government not to protect NHS spending increases every year for the next 5 years, he opposed all other cuts in other health related services (even though there is a review on them and no decision has been taken as yet - and when it does it will be upto each individual health authority or primary care trust) and admitted it was "counter-intuitive for a health spokesman to be advocating less spending on the NHS"

so which is it mr burnham? do you even have an idea?

andy burnham continued... "Labour had agreed to protect spending only on front-line police, schools and health and should not pretend there would not have been cutbacks if it had stayed in power"
so you agreed to protect spending on health - as you were the health secretary at the time of the election and you are now the shadow health secretary - at the same time as voicing your view that funding to the NHS should be cut?
make your mind up for gods sake!

andy burnham continued... "Let's get some honesty in this debate," he said. "There would have been significant spending cuts under Labour and there would have been job losses under Labour."
- that was labour's problem, they treated the public as if they were thick.... spent the entire election campaign telling people how bad the other parties were going to be for making cuts, after already pledging to halve the budget deficit!
why only come out no mr burnham and tell the public this?

Mr Balls urged his colleagues "not to do the coalition's job for them"
in government ed balls was all for a government of all the talents, from all sides of the house and all walks of life - as per usual, this was complete bollocks!
now we have an elected coalition government making the cuts and in control of the nations books (whats left of them) ed balls wants no part in anything!
shame that, as it shows clearly ed balls only has self interest and that of his party regaining POWER, rather than helping the country through its toughest budgets since the 1930s, a fact caused by 11 years of a labour government, of which ed balls was a major part of!

Asked where he and his brother disagreed over economic policy, Ed Miliband said he wanted more emphasis on tax rises - including a higher levy on banks - to bring down the deficit than Labour was arguing for at the moment
- and you stood on a general election platform ed miliband, supporting the position labour takes as it did then, whilst OPPOSING it?
truly bizarre, if i dont support something ill voice an opinion and change my position towards any party that takes my vote.
you cannot have two completely opposing views on the same subject when you are in public life, the people vote for you if they agree with you and against you if they dont agree with your views.
if you disagree with the leadership then why did you serve under them endorsing policies you did not believe in? hypocrit!

"The banks should be paying the price of the crisis, not people up and down this country," ed miliband
no the labour party in government should be paying the price, they changed the rules that meant a bank could not over stretch on its own borrowings.
the labour government you were part of, then created a housing boom by taxing pension fund profits (destorying pensions in the process) as people pulled money out of those and bought houses for their retirement, destroying communities, then to make matters ten times worse, gordon brown - with ed miliband's support in government - relaxed the rules on companies using their pension funds in other areas of their business. in expanding machinery or new computer systems, etc.

this is why thousands have found after paying in £30,000 and more in some cases, they are lucky to end up with a £2000 payout on their retirement!

does it really matter who gets the labour leadership?
with the exception of diane abbot, i wouldnt touch any of them....
