10/21/2010: "Cuts are essential to all our futures"
today's public spending review, announcing the biggest cuts outside of wartime, are vital if britain is to avoid a future of paying back interest on international loans, that were taken out by a labour government, for decades to come.
the argument about what caused the collapse, and the need for the borrowing has moved on from removing banking regulation powers from the competant bank of england.
we cannot go on borrowing £155 BILLION pounds just to break even in our yearly budgets!
interest alone after 4 years would cost us £43 BILLION pounds
upto 480,000 public sector jobs to go
conveniently forgotten today, was the fact that the previous 13 years under a labour government, 1.4 MILLION extra civil service jobs had been "created"
a fact brought home to myself yesterday, when contacting the warm front scheme due to the complete failing of installing us a new boiler.
not only did they fail to keep me informed, as their "customer charter" (drawn up by yet more civil servants) states they should have - i rang a call centre customer service department, who proceded to tell me complete lies to get me off the phone. when i rang again today to make a formal complaint, again i was told a pack of lies, its basically everyone else's fault bar theirs.
i rang the complaints team's direct number (a taxpayer funded phone line) - a call centre worker (another taxpayer funded worker) answered, telling me he would put me through to the complaints team on a different number (another taxpayer funded phone line) another advisor came on the phone (taxpayer funded job) spouting a complete pack of lies, but insisted that they would notify by email the warm front head office (tax payer funded computers and systems, requiring tax payer funded IT personnel to maintain it plus a tax payer funded back office/head office staffed with tax payer funded jobs) to send one email to the installation company.
the installation company later informed me that the paperwork was all present and correct (an hourly charge had been billed to the tax payer for this) when they received the job email via warm front back officers, they would then email yet another warm front department for a job authorisation number (more tax payer funded staff and offices) who would then take about a week to send back yet another email, with an authorisation number for the installers to order in the parts required to do the job.
the grant allowed is payable up to a maximum of £3500 under the scheme - which was the rough price of fitting a new boiler and two radiators - which can be bought privately for £1400 (so more expense billed to the taxpayer) so the fitting which would take about 4 hours comes in at approx £1100 cost to the taxpayer as well.
rediculous youll agree and a huge waste of taxpayer's money for over staffing, property, phone lines, computer systems, etc. nowhere else would you find such waste.
every single civil service job is funded by the taxpayer - a fact lost on all those stating that today's cuts are "unfair"
the public cannot go on funding vast numbers of non jobs - many of which are protected by their unions from doing other tasks that are easy to do, such as covering for an absent colleague. instead the unions think that its better to employ yet another person to do each individual job - as demonstrated by the job centre staff who fill out claims onto a computer system, but refuse to complete the task of colleagues also involved in processing claims.
earners of around £20,000 a year will be hit hard - utter nonsense!
next year the amount earned that is exempt from tax rises to over £7000, this will be increased when its financially possible, up to a target level of £10,000 - which puts more wages back in the pockets of the worker.
not a single mention of this at all on any news channel or media commentator.
a household earning £20,000 wont be affected by the freezing of child tax credit allowances - as at £20,000 they wont be entitled to them, the working tax credit levels will not be frozen if memory serves me correctly.
child benefit will still be payable as at £20,000 they are well under the £44,000 cut off level
pupil premiums will apply for school children, etc.
welfare cuts are not fair!
not fair?
is it fair that low income working people have LESS disposable income after paying their regular bills than people who refuse to work and claim benefits?
the welfare state is a safety net to catch people who have fallen on hard times for whatever reason - ITS NOT for funding people's lifestyles - where is the incentive to work?
i know of people who claim benefits, who have had 4 (thats FOUR) foreign holidays already this year, the entire household works just 16 hours per week, twice a week they do a full shop at tescos, kids have all the latest toys, clothes, etc.
when it rains they travel in taxis... you get the picture.
it is a joke, that claiming a series of benefits leaves you better off than if you worked!
people who work should be rewarded by keeping more of their money and be better off than someone claiming benefits.
dont even get me started on the thousands of people who claim incapacity benefits without even having to see a doctor....
cuts are just conservative ideology
disgraceful argument!
not a single person on the planet wants to make cuts and hurt people.. last year's £155 BILLION pounds of borrowing just to balance the books has made cuts unavoidable - according to the IMF (international monetary fund) labour's pre election plans for cuts, would result in an overall cut of 20% of expenditure... today's cuts come in at 19% thanks to efficiency savings in all departments across government.
to cry foul and portray that labour stand for middle income families is laughable.... 13 years of their government have kicked the british people in the teeth - leaving us with a borrowing requirement each year so large, just to break even, that its not been seen by any government outside of world war two!
it is the private sector that creates jobs, NOT governments using taxpayer's money
i end this rant with some mind numbing statistics:
* liam byrne - labour's treasury minister who declared "theres no money left" as humour (but factually accurate) for the new government - revealed just prior to the general election that after 13 years of labour in power, 21 MILLION people claim a form of tax credit, to live!
* 1.4 MILLION extra civil service jobs created under labour - each and every single wage packet for these, has to be found out of taxpayer's money
* civil service pensions - including the extra 1.4 MILLION civil service jobs created, have all to be paid into and for by taxpayer's money
* every single civil service office block, call centre, telephone line, computer system, maintainance of these systems, sick pay, holiday pay, retirement pay off, pension, yearly bonus, travel expenses, training course, wage, subsidised canteen, job share, head office, complaints department, customer service department, etc, are ALL paid for out of taxpayer's money - just as each single benefit, tax credit, etc is paid for out of tax payer's money!
* the past 10 years of a labour government have seen a near total reliance on the financial sector for britain's employment and sales... our manufacturing and services industries have been decimated like never seen before, to the point where we (britain) makes almost nothing of value to sell around the world) even our food mostly comes from abroad - this is all well and good when money is sloshing around, but since 2007 money is tight in the financial sector, every country that has a strong manufacturing base has faired very well coming out of recession. some countries like canada, havent even fallen into a recession.
for me, cuts cannot come soon enough!
