do the papers actually know anything anymore? do they report any news? it sounds like the TV news report whats in the papers then the papers report whats on the TV news
stories that we are being told is "news" this morning:
- wayne bridge will not shake john terry's hand when city and chelski meet today - utter drivel - bookies odds on the reported handshake or not - yet more tosh - cheryl cole will meet ashley - who cares? both fakes anyway, she is in adverts with tattoos airbrushed out, all marketing, he plays the loving husband role and is "devastated" about a split, yet spends his time sending rude pics to other women - get off my screens - the tories plan a tax cutting budget - small problem lacking in facts there, first we havent had the general election called yet, the tories havent been voted into office yet, they havent formed a government, they havent had a look at the country's books (which is why labour wont call the election yet) they havent had their first budget yet - but dont worry the paper's know it to be FACT and reporting it as such
its all marketing, spin and complete guesswork... what are the quangos, that we pay so much money for, doing to stop all this nonsense?
i was put in an all too familiar position today, a very serious role, definately not a place where laughter can be found, yet events developed in which for 5 minutes, i had to use strength and the bite your lip approach to prevent it being obvious, i failed in this task... as always.
why do we laugh when its least appropriate?
one simple case of someone breaking wind and one reaction out of the blue and about 12 people around me and myself couldnt hold the laughter off. how bad is it when you know you cant laugh then you make eye contact with someone who is obviously near to creasing their sides with laughter?
disaster... i almost burst P
on other fronts, much work to be getting on with, lots of hard graft and new skills to be read up on and developed, at least its for the benefit of hoover towers. the wise old man inside me will always get things checked out before going ahead with anything that could potentially blow us up or fry us, but for the most part im due a bout of heavy lifting.
now the van is another problem: we once had an electrician turn up to fit a central heating control box. he turned up in his nice new estate car, with his little toolbox of tricks, shiney and clean, i presented him with a full wiring diagram - which he was clearly incapable of reading - and a new control box with just 5 wires to be fixed into it. he wired the earth wire to the live socket, he wired the live to the neutral and then faster than he bounded down the path, no doubt expecting an easy hours work for 3 hours pay, he runaway! i kid you not, he ran out of the house, threw his shiney new toolbox in the car and fired off at speed!
now the van has finally been towed to the nearest garage - with a new fault of the immobiliser (that for 3 years i didnt know i had) has kicked in and doesnt recognise the keys - sadly for me, the van has an immobiliser that doesnt just cut off the dashboard, but also the fuel supply. so first fix the immobiliser, then get it inside the garage to have all the rear brakes and handbrake fixed.
8 days later i ring the garage up to see if there is any progress - none whatsoever! the auto electrician cannot bypass the immobiliser or reset it, so the van is going nowhere, i was presented with the question - theres nothing we can do as we cannot get it to start!
my immediate reaction was - well what do you want me to do, you are the garage and have mechanics, are you telling me you cannot be bothered to sort it out and want me to pay for yet another towing to another garage who will have exactly the same problem? a quick look around online finds that this immobiliser is a common problem with vans of my kind. many have had their van in at a dealership to sort it out and been hit with a 1500 bill when its finally been resolved. others have had their van in at the garage for more than 6 weeks and been unable to find the fault!
if a place advertises that they are a tyre and exhaust fitting centre, i wont take my vehicles there to have major work done - but they state they are a garage and by definition should be able to sort this out....
SHOULD being the operative word, once again in the world of denzil, i dont have a chance! what to do now? i havent got a clue where to send it to have the fault fixed.
i have nothing to do, i sit in the front room, post 10pm, snoozing until eventually im off up to kip. i have a full day of work to do tomorrow, not only do i fall asleep in the afternoon prior to it, but now im wide awake.. its 1am. and im up at 7am
always the same for me as a kid, christmas eve sleep was a nightmare, no matter what i tried i just couldnt get to sleep, then i was knackered for the whole special day. its the same if i have a days work on, night before im wide awake.
ive tried reading, writing, music, counting sheep, eating, not eating, drinking brews, smoking, not drinking brews or smoking....
the year starts with fresh efforts to get more things done here at hoover towers... stacks of plastering, new wiring, lighting, plaster boarding, then more plastering to be done. just for good measure, there is even some copper pipe work to do...
the first week of the year is frozen off, the inches of snow and no gritting for the lowly street where i live see to that, next week then... the next week im back at my little job, seems like an age since i was there, but something comes up and i agree to step in and help them out, another few weeks gone i tell them i cannot keep helping them out as i have far too many jobs on, "can you give us another two weeks please?" okays, two weeks cant hurt can it!
im thinking...two weeks, then its a week off so ill be good to go.
then i get the beginnings of a cold, but i carry on regardless. the following weekend it becomes apparant that mother nature is telling me not to do owt. laid up for the next week i am, doing nothing at all (not in a fit state to for once) a nice double infection, so for 7 days i grow a tramps beard and every four hours i fall asleep for two then im wide awake, a brew and a tablet later, im dozing off again. not to worry.... the next week is a holiday week, i can start, ive got all the house stuff i can make a start on, ive got the websites to build and get live, blah blah, i dont mind as its stuff for that could benefit ME.
still a bit ropey at the beginning of the week, finally by thursday i get my act together and get the aa out to the b-team van thats struggling to move as the handbrake has seized on. the aa bloke is great, hes a top fella and one i used to work with back during my halfords day! he removes the brake disc (instead of just calling for a tow truck as any other patrol would have done) spots that the wheel cylinders have leaked and contaminated the shoes and seized the handbrake on, new cable needed, no probs, he will follow me down to the garage and bring me back - plus im insured for the work, no bother. i rang john at the garage, bring it in and leave it with us well sort it out for you no bother... got in the b-team van to fire her up (shed been running not 20 minutes earlier) nothing! zilch! nada!
apparantly, the van has an immobiliser! and guess what... the immobiliser has broke and the vans going nowhere!
so now i have to pay for an auto electrician to sort it out, then pay part of the brakes job as well, not being in the mood, i get the van towed to the garage and tell john to take his time with it and ring me when its sorted out.
i get home and go through the routine of the weekend shopping and the footy bet (4 out of 5 up this week - should make a profit instead of just breaking even) sunday comes, i get grief at home, so spend the day in silence and being ignored.
monday comes.... not a problem, as i am back to my normal 1 hour per day little job, the help i was giving has finished. into work i go, they need another week's help, including 2 full days, so thats my driving gone out of the window, thats the house jobs on hold for another week, thats the websites only getting little bits done on them for another week, in between sorting out tammy and trying to stay awake in the afternoons so i can get some shut eye at night, yet another week has gone.
we are already at the end of february - when people used to tell me that as you get older the days fly by much faster - i used to laugh at them, not believing it for a second, now i know exactly what they mean! i still havent got into the plastering, wiring, websites, more plastering, etc, and with february coming to an end, we have van stuff and mot's to sort out and then we are into planning and preparing the gardens and putting the veg and flowers in so i can sit back in summer and pick and eat.
i seriously need to organise my time better, or learn to say "no"
hats off to Graham Jones, prospective labour party candidate for the may 6th general election, for not only revealing the date of the general election weeks ahead of any official notice to the public, but now it would appear he is not a fan of debate.
many posts he has posted regarding "the tories" and every paper that puts out a negative story of opinion about the opposition parties, seems to be linked to and headlined on his blog.
first it was the odd comment that was deleted as he saw fit, but on visiting his site tonight, to see his reply to a comment from a member of the electorate he is asking to vote him into office as an MP, is significant by its absence!
graham jones has turned all comments off on his blog
im hoping it is a mistake or an oversight on his part, or could it be that he doesnt like hearing what his would be constituents think?

are the BBC hiding bad news for gordon brown?
i was searching for something that was said at the chilcott inquiry yesterday, regarding gordon brown's defence budget cuts, just 12 months into the iraq war, which was equivelent to £1 BILLION pounds.
amongst the things that were cut from the defence's budget were orders for helicopters, which would have been in service and is widely acknowledged, would have been a life saver for our brave troops who have had to drive around in modified landrovers in afghanistan instead, throughout 2009.
anyhow, i hit goggle and searched, all the tabloid websites had it as a headline, but strangely the bbc didnt have it.... so i hit the bbc website, put in their search about the chilcott enquiry... then i put in about the iraq inquiry.... again nothing about gordon brown being slammed for defence cuts in 2003 that contributed to helicopter shortages in 2008/2009 in afghanistan!
now i know from various friends online that when post anti government or gordon brown posts on their have your say section, they are held in a moderator queue for days and are only published once the debate has been closed to other posts or "recommended" clicks from other users.
it is also common knowledge that various reports and figures from the past 10 years have mysteriously vanished from the internet or been compared to paper records from back when the reports came out, and been found to be different... one friend i know was doing research and took a report from the net and printed it out for reference. when he checked his reference against the report as it appears on the net today... it had been changed! several damaging figures to the government were missing from what we can view on the net today!
paranoid or not, i know media manipulation takes place on opinion boards open to the public, i know of figures being changed on internet reports that have been online for ages - i am amazed at the lack of bbc coverage and search findings regarding the chilcott inquiry from 24 hours ago whereby a top defence person reveals that gordon brown cut £1 Billion from the 2003 defence budget which has led to helicopters missing from last years mission to afghanistan
how many more bad news gordon brown stories are the BBC hiding away in the background?
