as is all too frequent these days, it is totally pointless and only for the benefit of the headline writers, it will achieve precisely NOTHING!
the banks are exactly the same as a small child:
- if you give it what it wants all the time, it will constantly demand more - no matter how many times you tell it something, it wont listen until what you said happens, then it finally learns - it is an expert at exploiting any given situation it finds itself in, for its own benefit
ive long advocated that the financial collapse could have been largely avoided, but the government kicked itself (and each and every taxpayer in the UK) in the teeth, by following a foolish path to pull us out of this mess.
the problem that needs addressing first is mortgages the interest rate is currently 0.5% the libor rate (interbank lending rate) is currently 1% why are new home buyers facing an increase in thousands for a deposit and why is the lending rate so high? why are people looking to fix their mortgage rate for 3,4 or 5 years, now being charged higher rates when the interest rate is 0.5% than when the interest rate was 3.5%?
because the banks are having to find all the money to pay back to the taxpayer. banks only operate under the criteria allowed by those that are running the country - they will manipulate and squirm around and always find a way to make money.
banks should have been allowed to fail when they collapsed, this way new banks would have appeared in their place, competition would have grown as banks fight for custom (helping savers) but best of all.... banks (like a child) would have learnt the lesson, that if they do not fund themselves safely, and they fall, no more bank! (this is akin to a child and road safety) the "fear factor" would have kicked in and despite lax regulation, care would have been taken to protect their own interests.
instead what we got was banks given lax regulation by the FSA and government, and allowed to be reckless as the taxpayer would bail them out. the only saftey net from the taxpayer, should have been to protect the savings of the people. if the banks fall then with it they lose their consumer credit license, and discounted sales of their current mortgage book go to their customers.
as it stands, the banks know the government will use taxpayers money to bail it out, which is recovered by higher taxes and weaker public services (we lose) the banks put up their charges and costs of services to recover the money they have to pay back (we lose again) and competition for savers and mortgage holders in the banks market fall (once again the public lose out).
so what can the government do to ease the pressures on us all now? absolutely nothing at all - words and waffle for the headline writers, whilst you and I get completely shafted on paying taxes and higher costs just to survive!
Today's "hauling in of the banks bosses on small business lending" is the latest in the government's "show we are being tough" routine. spin spin and more spin. people are struggling and will continue to do so for decades... the recession is easing they tell us... we cannot go on paying vast amounts of money in interest payments at the problem.... something needs to give, before the UK goes BANKRUPT!
one thing that bites my biscuit more than most is the extortionate rip off of charges and taxes dumped on the motorist. there is simply no need for it and every single driver is being penalised to pay for everything else BUT transport. the UK public are lied to, deceived, ripped off and in every other walk of life, if the same approach was taken, we would be able to prosecute the government/business for doing it.
"Motoring taxes have been handled so badly that drivers no longer trust what ministers say the charges pay for, an MPs' report says" this is because motoring taxes in all forms ARE NOT being used for what ministers say they are! i can prove it - this is how greg pope (Labour MP for hyndburn) replied in answer to questions from myself regarding motorist taxation.
in 2007, the government raised more than £47 BILLION pounds in motorist taxation - yet only spent just over £8 BILLION on transport projects - where has the other £39 BILLION gone? Greg Pope replied, telling me that i was "advocating the closure of schools and hospitals and a reduction in services in the NHS!"
i replied, in no uncertain terms, stating that it was disgraceful to lie like this in reply to a legitimate question for information! he replied, not to answer the question, but to tell me he "was a very busy man and didnt have time to debate this issue with me!"
"The government said billions had been spent on public transport and it was committed to improving travel options" improving travel options? thats why public transport charges have more than trebled is it? thats why the public are being stung for simply picking people up from airports? is this why we all have to pay hidden charges for using an aeroplane to go on holiday? perhaps this is why bus stops no longer allow buses to pull in, they now just stop in the road holding up traffic even longer? improving travel options? dont make me laugh!
drivers needed "clearer signals" about how their taxes were being spent to reduce congestion and pollution. congestion and pollution are increasing BECAUSE of government policies. How many times have you been on your way to work and been sat in a traffic jam because of new traffic lights or traffic calming measures? how many times have you been delayed because a new roundabout has been put in place where it used to be a straight road? how many more dual carraigeways have their speed limits reduced to 50 or 30mph to accomodate a new development entrance?
we dont need clearer signals the public need those in power to stop lying to us!
The report said: "Fuel duty has been presented, at different times, as a tool to reduce carbon emissions, a source of general revenue, and a means to fund transport investment. "We are concerned that motorists are mistrustful of the government regarding taxes." revenue is being raised, and the facts show that less than a quarter of that money is being spent on what it is being taken for. this doesnt show a "public mistrust" - it shows the public are fed up to the back teeth of the blatant lies we are being told its not even funny anymore, people are facing hard times and tightening purse strings, my car insurance should not be taxed to pay for financial mismanagement of the banking system or because the government have spent too much money on stupid schemes and reviews!
if the government impose a tax on car insurance policies, then who in their right mind believes that the car insurance company will simply cut their profits to pay it? the insurance company will of course pass on these extra costs to their customers. so the government gets extra tax revenue and most customers then blame the insurance companies for the price of their insurance going up - so they dont lose votes. (this can be applied to all areas of business taxation the government impose upon us all)
It also says car parking charges must be "proportional" and local authorities should not be charging excessive prices to pay for non-related services so they admit that the motorist is already being charged for profit to spend in other areas, by local authorities... a process which is unenforceable under common law in england and wales. banks are currently fighting an appeal, as this process has been used against their customers, via the high court, laws and legal precident are in place to stop this from happening, but as always they are not being used. why are we being charged for non related services, and how much longer must they be able to get away with it? no other area of life can charging be used in this way.... they are part of the government that allows this to happen, so why not use MP power and stop it? talking about it and having a review isnt getting the UK motorist anywhere, we still have to pay them!
Although it (the committee) said it had no evidence this was happening, the public was concerned about the issue no evidence? ever been to a hospital to visit someone? you are only allowed to visit for two hours, yet must pay for car parking for a minimum of 3 hours car parking fees are being used to raise revenue for the hospital as the government has reduced their funding because they have this money coming in.... oh look another example of the government indirectly increasing taxation on the motorist!
no evidence? utter rubbish... there is evidence everywhere! are they blind? Similarly, it (the committee) says penalty fines must not be used as a "blatant" tool to raise money from motorists and councils must spend more of the revenue raised on creating more parking spaces and improving signs but the councils are being penalised by government funding, if they raise money anything they raise is removed from the money given to it each year by those at westminster.... oh look another example of indirect taxation by the government. council raises funds for more carparking spaces, government decides they have too much in the kitty so reduces the amount of money that they get from general taxation!
the simple answer is to only raise revenue to develop free parking to attract visitors to each town, and to keep the government's grubby taxation fingers off it!
"We are committed to implementing innovative and far-reaching measures to improve the transport options available," the department of transport said innovative and far reaching measures? the dept of transport are a joke!
either give the UK motorist their money back by cutting taxes immediately, or spend the more than £47 BILLION a year raised, on transport projects that actually benefit the british public. anything less than either of these measures, shows that the government we have are nothing more than a bunch of crooks!
believe it or not, i actually read lots of different things, blogs, factual stuff, forums, the times, even facebook notes have sometimes attracted my attention. its important to read plenty, its one thing i never used to do, but as im reknown for being a bit thick, i try to stay open minded, cos its the only way i learn things.
i was over at Chazza's blog the other day, and read a good post on old friends. tonight i was messing around on facebook and posted a status update, that phippsy would call "wet", but someone else had it so i thought i would copy it - it asks for readers of it to post about something that both the reader and myself shared.
i was surprised at the response.. i thought there would be much more grief for me, but there was not! (maybe its just early days so far?) anyways... back to people
maybe i miss understood your post chazza (if so soz) but people moving on or changing from what you remember, doesnt hold with me. (i aint good at reading between the lines so perhaps ive missed your point completely?) people ive hung out with, worked with, boozed with, etc, dont ever go away, no matter how much circumstances or times change. people i used to meet on a daily basis, that are far away and busy gettin on with their lives, occasionally drop me a line, its like we were talking only yesterday. people ive worked with, i miss dearly, i might not see them for years, but they are always there. many a time ive been walking down the street or lifting something heavy and a laugh weve shared years before pops inside my head and i have a giggle. people ive mostly known online, many ive never met, who have phoned me up or dropped me a message, at a time when i was having major problems in "real life" just to see how i was doing...
it never ceases to amaze me how generous people are with their time. what is just a few minutes for them, are what means the world to me. the fact that they took the time to think about me in some way, speaks volumes. although i could never remember each and everytime, have some examples of what i mean:
- the young man who appeared in front of me, in the middle of nowhere at the church where i was getting married, stood alone in the rain, after crossing two counties when he doesnt drive, then spent the full day at the service and at the booze up afterwards (and should have taken up my offer to stay over) - the 8 or 9 people, who, when i was out on my feet and a total mess, took the time to find my mobile number, ring me, and ask me how i was and offered me help and a way out of my own stupid mess - the almost young man who stepped in and was my best man for my wedding at a moments notice - the huge number of people who reassured me when my dad was badly ill - an online friend, an old man and his lovely wife to be, who gave up their time to travel and visit my family when we landed in their country - another online friend, who opened his family home to my family when we visited their country, and arranged not only to show us around his home and area for a full day but held a feast for us with all their friends and neighbours - a fantastic lady and her fabulous family, who not only invited my wife and i into her home in london but also paid for the priviledge and put us up! - the workmates, both over the years and recently who have helped me out, when they could easily have just sat by and done nothing - the welshy, who turned my website PINK and continues to be one of my best friends ever - the wonderful families who have invited us into their homes for family and friends parties and made us feel like part of their families
the list is endless.... the fact that people have put themselves out there for me and continue to do so, even when there is nothing in it for them, those close to home and those that are far away, are never forgotten.
as i get older, my memory fades but the people and friendships i know, never will, i just get fewer new ones. and if my friends ever need me........ just shout, ill ALWAYS be there!

first day today of the summer hols. lots of work for me to do, plastering, doors to hang, pipes to put in, rubbish to shift out and lifting of heavy things, but today, its time to get into barmy army mode - this time the hairs gone white with a blue and a red streak, only the blue streak has turned some of my hair lilac, and ive somehow managed to burn my scalp round my hairline. oh well.
still theres always the gang on the street to play sport with? errrr nope! most of them away on holidays and besides its been chucking it down on and off all day, which will be good when i get the tip permits around friday, as all the rubbish to tip will now be sodden and covered in slime. so i will unwittingly end up with cat pee all over my gloves and be saturated in standing water after each trip. cosmic.
been a very odd week so far, not one of my favs, times are changing (i dont like change) saying goodbye to people is not a nice thing, especially as ive got used to having them around. monday was goodbye to the lads... end of term assembly involved singing, which is always off putting for someone as shy as me (not a word!) and afterwards i gave them a few bits, mostly sporting stuff, i wonder if any of them will be famous in the future... a centre forward or playing in an ashes test match? i doubt it but it would be great to see.
tuesday, i was not looking forward to at all. went out friday with some of the staff, for a meal, should have gone out with them on some of the other staff nights out, it was a blast, they are just like me! problem is, ive spent so long trying to do the right thing, i didnt realise how much fun they were. so after friday night, i could relax a bit, and have a laugh, the problem is by tuesday i had to say goodbye to some of the staff not moving with us after the summer! so when tuesday came, it was a bit of a downer for me. why do things always have to change just when you dont want them to?
anyways... ive been in a bit of a daze today, it felt like a friday yesterday, and today ive been plodding around like a lemon, maybe humping heavy stuff around and keeping busy will be a good thing? on friday itll be just 7 weeks until Tammy arrives... and life as we know it in hoover towers will change forever. Dad's doing well, hes doing that well hes getting rid of visitors and when i phone him, hes telling me what hes been doing and then going off and doing summat else!
i suppose i should just be grateful that hes back to his best....

The food chain link to ill health is not in your "5 a day"
everday we are bombarded with the latest report into [insert a reason for ill health in the public here] one consistant thing thats always missing is the food chain. various reasons given for ill health are not getting 5 a day or a protein has been found which may cause... or that people are eating the wrong food... all of these are completely missing the point.
popular opinion is that not enough people exercise and/or eat their 5 a day - i believe this is clutching at straws, i am of the belief that there is a growing argument that shows the vital link in the nation's failing health, being as a direct result of what is being put into our food chain.
example 1: a 70 year old man, who has never smoked, drinks only occasionally in moderation, walks everywhere (cannot drive) works out on his allotment at least 3 times a week, working to a sweat, suddenly keeling over because he has furred up arteries to his heart, to such an extent that all 4 serving the heart collapse and open heart surgery is required.
additional - he doesnt eat macdonalds, or processed ready meals, he buys vegetables and meat from his local supermarket, when he cannot grow it on his allotment and eat that. eats plenty of fish, has no allergies, and leads an overall active and healthy lifestyle. his weight is comparable to his height so obesity doesn't come into the equasion and his blood sugars are normal so there is no diabetes.
the question is obvious, how has all his arteries "furred up"?
example 2: always active playing sports at school and in personal time, a 12 year old girl who has always been a keen sports player, always running everywhere, very active with no illness. at the age of 12, whilst continuing her sports and active lifestyle, starts to put on weight and becomes over weight despite all her activities.
there is no historical over weight problem in two generations of her family, she eats well, and remains very active, more so than the average child. she does not sit in front of computer games for hours each day, walks everywhere, to and from school etc.
the question again is obvious, if she leads a lifestyle that is considered by the official bodies as healthy, why is she now over weight?
those that tell us they know, those that do studies and lab testing, etc, tell us this protein causes this and these chemicals do that, are completely missing the point.
an apple - eaten in the 50s, 60s and 70s (even the 80s to some degree) contains different chemicals and additives than an apple we eat today! everytime i see someones trolley at a supermarket, that contains all their families fruit and veg for a week, bundled up in plastic packaging, i feel like shaking them personally and pointing out that, yes you might be viewing this as essential 5 day shopping, but what is contained in today's fruit and veg, is very different from what is traditionally fruit and veg as we used to eat!
the common apple is just one example of thousands in our food chain, as business looks to find longer shelf life, bigger fruit, looking more appealing to the shopper, all for less cost
questions are many, yet official bodies are not looking at any of these: - food standards in the UK are rigorous, why are supermarkets buying produce from countries that dont have the same or better regulations? - why is it cheaper to put an apple on their shelf from china, than it is from say an orchard in bristol? - what is being added to apples to make them look attractive, more than 3 weeks after they are picked from a tree? - what allows them to be stored for weeks, when an apple picked from a tree in my garden only lasts about a week before it starts to become inedible? - why does much of a supermarket/imported fruit and veg rarely form a root?
so what is known? gas waxing - all kinds of "fresh" produce is sprayed with a wax chemical, which preserves the appearance making it look good to the consumer, for a longer period of time - this is despite scientific evidence that bruised fruit and veg can be dangerous to vunerable people and carry diseases affecting the person eating the produce, of which gas waxing can hide and is used to prevent.
natural wax protection produced in the growing process is washed off after picking, and various chemical versions are used to replace these raising obvious (to us consumers) health issues:
* petroleum-derived paraffin based waxes (the same subtance used for making candles) which is a major earth pollutant and contributes to co2 emmissions around the world * the trapping of pesticides used in the growing process, between the wax applied and the skin of the produce that we buy * persistant organic pollutants (POPs) - POP exposure has been associated with immune system suppression, nervous and hormonal system disorders, reproductive system damage, and various cancers, including breast cancer. (in studies carried out all over the world) * various chemicals are used to preserve shelf life and appearance in these waxes - such as food-grade vegetable, petroleum, beeswax, or shellac based wax or resins
ethylene gas - many fruit and vegetables produce ethylene gas, naturally when they ripen. producers pick the fruit and vegetables before they ripen, to preserve shelf life, then expose the produce (that we eat) to ethylene gas artificially, to induce ripening. just have a read about ethylene gas here (scroll down to the bottom for effects on humans! is it any wonder why we have so much pollution???
conclusions....
it is not the amount of fruit and vegetables or other food stuffs that we consume that is causing the problems for the nations health, it is the chemicals, additives and what is being put into the food chain thats doing the damage to all of us.
think about this: in the example of fruit and vegetables, all over the world it is required BY LAW for supermarkets to label their produce clearly, showing what type of gas waxes have been applied to prolong the life of the product.... yet for the people of the UK, this basic law is not required.... why not?
microsoft - geeks who dont know what they are doing.
its a simple process, set up a database with my host, download microsft server sql 2008, download a csv or xml file, import it to database. then set up pages using php to call items from said database.... how hard can it be!
with microsoft - damn near impossible!
my server recommends using server sql 2000 to update and upload a database which is nothing more than a basic spreadsheet containing data in rows and columns. the link to sql 2000 is no longer valid, as microsoft no longer support it.
microsoft recommend using their sql 2005...... the problem is when you try to import this "table" or csv file into your database, constant errors are occurring, and microsoft dont have a clue how to resolve them! i attempt to upload a csv file and continuously get errors that cause the upload (or import) to fail. i look at the error message, rectify the problem, sometimes delete the offending column altogether, only to find i have another error when i try again to import the csv file.
its a complete waste of space, unfortunately, my server company will not allow connection via any other program. ive tried to explain to them that if im unable to upload data to a database, then its a complete waste of time paying for server space with a database on it.... first they asked me what i was trying to do - after explaining in a direct question exactly what i was trying to do next they asked me to state again what i was trying to do - 3rd time of explaining the exact same thing finally they replied asking me if i was trying to do blahbl;ah blah, which i made perfectly clear, i confirmed this was what i was trying to do, and its been over a week now and still no reply..... like i have nothing better to do.
i went to microsoft as regards this problem, and their forums are littered with people having the same basic error, they cannot upload/import a basic csv or xml file to their database using the microsoft sql 2005 or sql 2008 programs.
there are people like me that have been searching for a "work around" or a solution to this basic problem for weeks! ive been trying to resolve this via two of us here at hoover towers without success, so the question would be obvious.... why bother having programs that dont do the basic features they are set up to do???
a complete lack of understanding by microsoft staff, about how to use their own products.... add to this a server provider who havent a clue how to configure their own servers to do something so basic as to import a csv or xml (industry standard) file.
those set ups that do work are access, sql server 2000, are either no longer supported by microsoft or cost the individual a lot of money to convert over to the "new" system that doesnt work.
i hate geeks.... why the hell do they over complicate things to the point where the product or program is entirely useless? im just one of thousands of people who are having this problem, which begs the question, why do i (and many others like me) have to spend literally a 1000 man hours searching around the internet for "work arounds"? why not just fix the damn problem and make life easier for everyone?
two weeks ago, everything here at hoover towers was routine. we were dealing with a case of blatant over charging by a catalogue firm to a pensioner friend of penny pinchers we were plodding on and reading up on finding a way to show the people of the fair UK exactly what supermarkets/superstores on the high street are up to, as regards prices... home work was plodding on and the greenhouse was the main focus of the garden, as the late planting spuds started to come through.
a heatwave was upon us, wimbledon had started, and we were having some fun over at sporting-calendar.co.uk even the strawberries were ripening and being scoffed in a daily bowl full.
after being informed that my little part time job would be ended, i received a phone call that old father dad had been taken into hospital with trightening chest pain, he was diagnosed with angina but controlled with drugs, the sprog was then facing a disciplinary hearing for his job, after using the internet at work. the following week saw dad resting at home with the occasional trip out, an the sprog was informed the official complaint that was made about him, was first from his shift leaders, then it was from his boss, then it wasnt from any of them and hed have his chance to defend himself at the disciplinary hearing later in the week. a new problem had arose, in that the neighbours gas supply was subject to occasional gas leaks, our pipes had been done when hoover towers were built, so we were ok.
then at the end of last week.... a triple blow!
first the sprog discovered that no one had filed an official complaint, and despite destroying all the evidence of so called "internet abuse" where he works, he was dismissed, by the very person he put in a greivance against back in february. this person simply refused to accept any of the printed explanations, and despite evidence proving he was not to blame and the accusations were false, he was out of work. next we had dad, being rushed back into his local hospital, hes then transferred to a cardiac unit over at blackpool victoria hospital, in preperation for surgery as they couldnt stabilise his condition. and finally we had a simple gas meter move (done for free in return for digging a "really small pit") which turned into a plot that could have buried 3 of us in with a huge digger that tore up our lawn as it went about looking for oil! this simple task led to our gas meter being moved, and then swiftly cut off..... leaving us without hot water or heating.
then when we least expected it, dad got a serious virus which was tested for C Diff, and could have put back his operation for 3 weeks and of course made sure that if he wasnt ill enough, he was now even worse!
so in between losing my job, the sprog losing his job, visiting blackpool everyday (which is normally a good thing because the local people of blackpool rock!) and working extra hours as well as fighting to sort out the gas supply... we are upto a phone call this morning, to say that dad had a bad night and now his bypass op will be a triple bypass and instead of the booked slot, hes been rushed straight into theatre in what could be a 7 hour operation.
he was very very lucky the surgeons have said, as normally people with his condition wouldnt know anything about it until they had a massive heart attack.... just two weeks ago he was on holiday humping suitcases around and out walking up hills, luckily hes always been very active, but his heart was working overtime because of an artery collapse.
so today 2 out of the three people living at hoover towers are looking for work, baby hoover is due in 9 weeks time with lots of work still to do on the house and dad is currently in theatre. amazing how the best laid plans.... an all that stuff.
one piece of excellent news though: Mollsters a friend of the site, has given birth to a beautiful baby girl, so welcome to the world Isla, and a huge CONGRATULATIONS to lisa an paul xxx
just received an email from the "No2ID group" in my area.
as you would expect, they are against ID cars, but also against all the back door measures being brought in, in the small print of the legislation. This is something i agree with wholeheartedly. its not a political argument, it is a financial one.
its well documented about how much money the scheme would cost, the taxpayers (ie, you and me) would be paying for this either now - in higher taxes, or in future - if they fund it with more borrowing.
the most important issue i have with this whole scheme, is that it creates knock on costs/ higher prices for everybody, for services etc.
everything is costing more, driving licenses/passports etc, is going through the roof, to pay for more staff to monitor, gather and store OUR information, to pay for more databases, etc, and this information is being sold on without our knowledge to other departments, who use OUR information against us... we are paying a higher price for it!
another good example is credit. "check your credit file for just £5 per month" - why? its our information, we should be able to see what they are storing about us for FREE! have you ever applied for a loan or credit card? - the interest rate they charge you is dependant on this credit file... they tell us its to protect them from risk, long gone are the days when we all paid equally, now only those with a perfect credit rating pay a reasonable rate of interest, everyone else is penalised for the slightest little issue on their credit rating with higher interest payments!
.... but there are laws that protect us in place to stop this kind of thing happening.... who do you think pays for all the staff, offices, protection? how long does it take to investigate if they make an error? look at the consumer pages of the daily papers, they are full of people going to the press because they have run around for months trying to get an error sorted out, and the authorities that cost a fortune and taxpayer's pay for, have done nothing about it!
its not just credit cards and loans either..... mortgage interest rates, insurance premiums for your car, home, business, holiday, etc are going through the roof. pretty soon even our weekly shopping will be subject to these extra burdens on our wages and income. ITS TIME TO STOP IT!
laws do not protect us at all, and involve hours of work and phone calls and letters on "appeals" and action that resolve nothing and end up costing us more. every single taxpayer, has increased taxes to pay to cover the cost of staffing these useless government departments.
the government want to bring in a "new" department to "stand up for customers" at present we already have:
consumer direct trading standards office of fair trading
combined, these three departments are as much use as a chocolate teapot! they drain the taxpayer of millions of pounds each year in site payments, staffing, pensions, phone lines and computer systems and related staff, selling our information on, producing reports, and taking months to find they cannot do anything for the individual.... useless rubbish they are! .... and now we are to have another "new" outfit spending yet more of our tax money??? WHY?
the old theory is true - why pay thousands installing a pelican crossing, then employ a lollipopman for thousands each year, to stand their and push the button?
anyways... back to my email, this is what information i was sent today:
URGENT: WRITE TO YOUR MP, STOP ID POWERS NOW!
On Wednesday 8th July 2009, the House of Commons will vote on a group of three ID-related Statutory Instruments* including one called 'The Identity Cards Act 2006 (Provision of Information without Consent) Regulations 2009'. The other two establish fees and penalties that can be applied to anyone registered on the ID database.
We need you to write to your MP *NOW* to get them to vote against these key pieces of secondary legislation.
The 'Provision of Information without Consent' regulation would give powers to the Identity and Passport Service to pass on information it holds on you to a host of other agencies WITHOUT YOUR KNOWLEDGE OR CONSENT. This information would include not only official document numbers, and personal details like your name, addresses and signature (more than enough to facilitate massive identity fraud) but also your fingerprints and even - to the police, intelligence services, taxman and ANYONE ELSE THEY AUTHORISE - details of every time you had had your ID checked, e.g to register with a GP, open a bank account or apply for credit, or travel abroad. Your medical and financial dealings conveniently tagged and indexed for further snooping.
Records of what information has been given to whom and why may be destroyed after 12 months or less. They would track you for life, but prefer to leave no trail of their activities.
Contrary to some recent media reports, the ID scheme is still very much alive. From 2011 onwards you will still be forced to register on the ID database when you apply for or renew your passport. Some, including young people and those living in the North West of England, may be duped or bullied into registering for a card from later this year - and once you are on the database, there is no way off. The fees, penalties and data-trafficking established by these regulations would apply to you for life.
Blocking these three Statutory Instruments would not only stall the Scheme, it provides an opportunity for ID opponents to show how committed they are to killing it off completely. It is important that as many MPs of all parties as possible vote against them on Wenesday 8th July.
There is very little time, so we need you to contact your MP straight away - www.writetothem.com/ makes it very easy - to tell him or her that you deeply object to having your personal information shared without your knowledge or consent, and ask him or her to vote against 'The Identity Cards Act 2006 (Provision of Information without Consent) Regulations 2009' and the other two ID-related Statutory Instruments (see below for details) on Wednesday 8th July.
And don't forget to TELL OTHERS - link to our Facebook group at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=54487688497 , e-mail your friends, but don't delay.
thanks gang!
