This never helps anyone, not just customers stranded abroad, but staff who work for the company.

This is why Penny pinchers only list long established, reknown, high street and internet companies.
We could easily list smaller less well known companies who offer you bigger discounts, appear high up in "price comparison/middle man" lists, etc, but when things go wrong, its YOU the individual, who loses out.

I personally, wouldnt visit a market stall and buy my car insurance, holiday, electrical goods, etc.

As an individual customer, I buy from well reknown companies for simple reasons:
* The company will still exist throughout the guarantee period of my goods
* These companies have a long established customer complaints procedure in place
* They have a full back up repair or replacement system in place

Its never been more difficult for the individual to find good value and reliable back up service when buying things, than it is today.
With everyman and his dog being the latest big thing, its easy to be cajolled into parting with YOUR hard earned cash, the best protection must always be, set yourself some rules and stick to them!
